Practice standards

We are very proud to be accredited to the highest level by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as a Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital.

The RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) is a voluntary initiative to accredit veterinary practices in the UK. Through setting standards and carrying out regular inspections, the scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care. To become accredited, practices volunteer for rigorous inspection every four years and will have met a range of requirements.

There are three tiers of accreditation and we have achieved the highest, which means that in addition to the Core Standards and General Practice requirements, we have met further criteria and are recognised as a Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital.

The extensive list of requirements for a Veterinary Hospital includes providing in-patients with 24 hour care, complex intensive care equipment such as oxygen therapy units and intravenous fluid pumps, dedicated operating facilities, and a range of specialist equipment such as ultrasound machines, endoscopy facilities and ECG machines.

We had our most recent inspection in June 2015 and the inspector commented that we were “a friendly, professional team with high standards of cleanliness and hygiene”.
