Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month May 2022

29th April 2022

RVN-with-catIn May 2005 the first ever Veterinary Nurse Awareness event was launched. Its aim was simple: to raise awareness of the work veterinary nurses do.

Seventeen years later and the veterinary nursing profession continues this yearly celebration in recognition of the skills and value registered veterinary nurses bring to animal health and welfare. During May, Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month (VNAM) provides a focussed opportunity to reflect on how veterinary nurses shape the high levels of clinical care practices provide and the many different roles and responsibilities they have.

Registered Veterinary Nurses and the wider nursing team of Patient Care Assistants are a fundamental part of the clinical team, taking a leading role in preventative health care, care of hospitalised patients and running of diagnostic tests. Depending on the procedure, registered veterinary nurses also support with or undertake surgical procedures and provide care during anaesthesia and in the recovery period too.

Christmas and New Year 2021

7th December 2021

Cat sitting on a Christmas presentWe will continue to provide care for your pets over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Please note – our opening hours may be subject to change over the holiday.

If you are concerned about the health or welfare of your pet, please call us for an appointment or emergency services. Our friendly reception team will advise you of when and where you can be seen and what you need to do.

In the case of an emergency outside of our opening hours, please contact our out of hours emergency service. Please note: In order to safely provide 24-hour emergency care for your pets at this time, the way you access emergency healthcare for your pet may not always be at your usual branch.

Please only attend at the practice if you have called us first and have a pre-booked appointment. Thank you.

We wish you all a safe and very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We are here to help if you need us

Throughout the holidays, our team is here to help with telephone consultations with the vet, pre-booked appointments in practice, or to order and pick up repeat medicines.

The health and safety of our clients and colleagues alongside the welfare of the animals in our care remain our main priority. We are constantly reviewing our COVID-19 risk assessment in line with Government guidelines and guidance from our governing body – the RCVS – and will keep you updated of any changes.

We politely ask that you do not attend the practice unless you have called us first and booked an appointment. Thank you.

Repeat medication

If you are due your next supply of repeat medication you can either call us, email us or request this via the website repeat prescription form.

Prior to dispensing your treatment, a member of our team will call you to take payment where applicable and arrange safe collection.

Vaccinations and routine procedures

We are working hard to ensure all vaccinations due and routine procedures such as neutering are booked in, whilst maintaining stringent biosecurity protocols.

Your veterinary team is here and able to support you with telephone consultations and pre-booked appointments. Please contact us if you have any specific questions or pet health concerns.

Refurbishment work at Ringwood

26th November 2021

Kitten and a builder's helmetWe are delighted to announce that we are having some refurbishment work carried out at Ringwood to convert our current cat ward into a dedicated dental suite and convert another room into a super, new cat ward.

The work is expected to take 2 weeks from Monday 29th November. During this time, we will be reducing routine cat procedures whilst the cat ward is relocated.

During the work, there will be some of the builders’ vehicles and a skip at the front of the building, limiting parking so please allow a little more time to get to your appointment.

We will continue to stay open and our opening hours will remain as normal. It may just be a little noisy on some days.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. We are sure our feline patients will be delighted with our new cat ward, which will help to make their stay with us even less stressful and a little more like their home comforts!
